The agreement brings pay increases and improvements to working conditions for healthcare service employees.
– This solution brings stability to Tehy members in a situation where staff have been burdened by extensive cost-cutting measures and change negotiations. It is important that a solution was found for the sector through negotiations, and we will develop the provisions of the collective agreement, says Director of Advocacy Jarkko Pehkonen from Tehy.
Pay increases for 2026–2027
In 2026, there will be a 2.22% across-the-board increase and pay scale increase to salaries and wages, payable in September.
A separate pay scale increase of 0.7% will be paid in September to those working in job requirement category 3. The solution will help rectify the lagging pay growth in this category.
In December 2026, a local element of 0.6% and a one-time payment of €183 will be paid.
In 2027, salaries and wages will be increased by an across-the-board increase and pay scale increase of 2.0% and a local element of 0.4%.
Improvements to working conditions
The new collective agreement includes a large number of text amendments and improvements to working conditions.
– We agreed on a limited expansion of the application of period-based work. At the same time, we significantly improved the provisions on overtime in period-based work from the point of view of employees, says Vappu Okkeri, Negotiations Manager for the Private Sector at Tehy.
The pay system will also be developed. A new criterion of broad multi-responsibility will be added to the criteria for the payment of a task-specific increment for more demanding work.
- This means that employees can receive a task-specific increment if their role is broader than usual and the agreed conditions are met, says Okkeri.
Clearer collective agreement to support employees and employers
During the previous agreement period, the negotiating parties worked on a clarified version of the collective agreement for private healthcare services. The aim is to publish a new, more readable version of the agreement alongside the actual collective agreement as soon as possible.
– Despite the difficult issues, the dialogue with the Finnish Association of Private Care Providers (Hali) remained constructive during the collective agreement negotiations. We would like to thank Hali for their good cooperation, says Vappu Okkeri.
Over the course of this spring, Tehy, SuPer and Erto (Sote ry, negotiating organisation for the healthcare and social services sector) negotiated a generally applicable collective agreement for private healthcare services with the Finnish Association of Private Care Providers. The new collective agreement will enter into force immediately.
