Tehy is present in the film Kipinöitä yössä in many ways, including in posters in break rooms, lanyards and pencil cases. Tehy President Millariikka Rytkönen also has a small role in the film.
– We were excited to get involved. The film is excellent entertainment, but it also highlights topical issues in the healthcare sector, such as the constant rushing and the shortage of nurses, says Rytkönen.
However, the most important aspect of the partnership is increasing the sense of community among Tehy members. Tehy offered its members access to the film's premiere, with snacks, in a large auditorium for more than 600 people in Tennispalatsi, Helsinki, on 28 October. The members who received the tickets were chosen at random in a raffle.
Eijamari, practical nurse and entrepreneur who arrived at the premiere, described the atmosphere as exciting.
– It's nice to see Millariikka in the film, as well.
You can hear Eijamari's and other Tehy members' thoughts about the premiere in our Instagram video:

After the film premiere (14 November), Tehy will raffle off more tickets to screenings around Finland.
The quality and accuracy of the film's hospital setting was the responsibility of Hanna Heikkilä, medical consultant and nurse anaesthetist and perfusionist.
– Planning is the most important part of this work. We break the script down and go through all the medical scenes. Through careful advance planning, I make sure that everything runs smoothly and looks right, Heikkilä comments in the Tehy magazine article.
Producer Essi Tuukkanen from Yellow Film & TV says that it has been great to see how the film touches audiences, especially those whose everyday lives the story is about.
– The first audience comments came from healthcare professionals, and that's the biggest reward for us: they recognise their own world on the big screen. We would also like to warmly thank Millariikka Rytkönen for her courageous and wonderful presence in the film.
Syke is a long-term TV favourite
The hospital drama series Syke ('Pulse', also known as Nurses) has been on air since 2014. From 2014 to 2017, the series was broadcast by Yle TV2, but since its fifth season in 2018, the rights have been owned by Nelonen Media.
The first Syke film, Hätätila (Emergency), was released in 2021. In December 2023, the film Särkynyt Sydän (Broken Heart) premiered. Both films attracted large audiences.
Kipinöitä yössä (Sparks in the Night), premiering this November, is an intense portrayal of what happens in a trauma ward on the busiest day of the year.
The film stars Helmi-Leena Nummela and Johannes Holopainen in the lead roles. It also features a number of other well-known Finnish actors.
