Singer Hanna Pakarinen has released a new song Rakenteet in collaboration with the trade union Tehy. The song is about the inequality faced by women in the workplace and society at large. It is a historic first, as this is the first time that a Finnish trade union is publishing a song by an artist.

The song was originally born out of Pakarinen's personal need, and it has given a lot of comfort to the artist herself.

– I hope that my song and its story will inspire Finnish women to break away from unequal structures and break glass ceilings, to find their own voice and to fulfil themselves.

The song Rakenteet ('Structures') was produced in collaboration with the trade union for healthcare, social welfare and early childhood education and care sectors, Tehy. After hearing the demo, Tehy president Millariikka Rytkönen saw that the song was not only a touching hit, but also an act for equality.

–  I got chills and tears in my eyes when I heard it for the first time. Few songs are so insightful, touching and empowering at the same time. This is the new power song for nurses and education professionals!

The song will debut at a Christmas party for Tehy members on 29 November at Nokia Arena. You can also listen to the song on Spotify and on the Tehy website
