Non-fiction author Jessikka Aro, MSocSc, who previously worked as Tehy's Communications Director, has been appointed Tehy's Advocacy Director. As Advocacy Director, Aro will be responsible for increasing the effectiveness of advocacy for Tehy's members.
– In this global context, care professionals and their work are needed more than ever. As Advocacy Director, I will work hard every day to ensure that Tehy's members receive the respect they deserve from decision-makers, and that this respect is also reflected in their pay and working conditions, Jessikka Aro says.
Before joining Tehy, Aro forged a long career as a journalist at Yle and Helsingin Sanomat.
Non-fiction author Lotta Nuotio, MPolSc, has been appointed Tehy's Communications Director.
Nuotio will leave her post as Communications Manager at Tehy to become Communications Director. Before joining Tehy, Nuotio led a multifaceted international career in communications as a diplomat and journalist, including working at the communications department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and as editor-in-chief of the Ministry's Kauppapolitiikka media on international trade.
– I am inspired and honoured to have the opportunity to lead Tehy's communications and a department with highly experienced and skilled communications and journalism professionals. Through effective communication, we support the work of the entire organisation and its impact in society to improve the wages and working conditions of our members, Nuotio says.
Nuotio and Aro took up their posts on 1 February 2026.
