Tehy and SuPer nominate Master of Laws with court training Else-Mai Kirvesniemi for STTK president. Else-Mai Kirvesniemi has strong advocacy experience from both the public and private sectors. She is currently working as the executive director of Tehy for the ninth year. Previously, she worked for 15 years as a lawyer, head of legal affairs and lobbying manager at Trade Union Pro.

President of Tehy Millariikka Rytkönen and President of SuPer Päivi Inberg unanimously agree that Else-Mai Kirvesniemi is the right person to take the helm at STTK.

“Kirvesniemi is an excellent choice for STTK president at a challenging time in society when there are systematic attempts to undermine workers' rights. Defending an equal and non-discriminatory working life requires more robust advocacy,” say the presidents of Tehy and SuPer.

Else-Mai Kirvesniemi says she is very honoured to receive such a broad show of support and trust.

“I am available and ready for this important task. STTK must reform and respond to social change by advocating more strongly for the interests of its members,” Kirvesniemi says.

STTK's highest decision-making power is exercised by the 60-member assembly, which will elect a new president for the central organisation on 18 December. The current STTK President Antti Palola will be retiring.
